What can expectation truly predict?

What does it reveal?

Do things go as planned?

One's own expectations and NaNoWriMo update

Life doesn't always go as we expect it to. Sometimes there's changes or moments that are strong enough to steer your direction.

Recently, I thought that participating in Camp NaNoWriMo would help me move my manuscript to my laptop from paper much faster. It was a good motivation. What went wrong?

Inconsistencies. Inconsistencies in my schedule, life, and my writing habits. I got a few scattered days of work accomplished and put in 1k+ words. Not to 2k yet and my goal was to type out 10k of my draft. It's not easy for me to accept given a goal is becoming to put myself first.

It's better than I expected as I wasn't sure I'd participate at all. I promised myself I'd be fine with whatever results I get from this month.

It appears that next month will be busy so I'm not sure what the rest of this or next month will bring. It's going to be an adventure though.

Are you participating in Camp NaNoWriMo?

If so, is it going as expected?

Let me know in the comments.

Our Expectations as a Whole

We strive to expect more from ourselves because we want to be capable of so much and we're capable of so much. Yet, we sometimes speed past signs because we don't want to come to a realization.

We expect too much from ourselves. We push ourselves to do and be more than necessary. We can love what we do but there's always the chance that there's too much of a good thing.

Every day we might want to write but it's not possible for everyone to do all the time. Other tasks get in the way so time becomes scarce. There can be mental drains or hand cramps also. So, when advice comes out that "you're not a writer unless you right everyday", we can laugh it off. Despite consistency building habits, You are a writer as long as you write and don't need to everyday. You don't need to make a fun thing into a chore.

You might want to eat 5 tubs of icecream everyday but it won't do anyone any good except give you a belly ache or worse. (Never attempted it. Neither should you. It's purely another nonwriting example of why too much of a good thing is bad. Or life expectation can get drastically out of control.)

My point is that You should be careful what expectations you develop for yourself, your life, and others.

What expectations do you have for yourself?
