Hey there Writing with Sprinkle Community, it's BH Sprinkle again!

Welcome back to the blog where being a writer isn't so shameful. I'd love to see you over on Instagram and discord server as we break into some of my 2023 reads. Amongst other bookish topics.

Well, if this year hasn't been a blast when it comes to reading choices. I'm so excited to be jumping in as an ARC reader and finding so many fabulous books. I can't believe a lot of the people I already follow in their journey has decided to publish as well.

One of my new favorite things is writing book reviews. I always aim to do that anyway when I read something especially if I enjoy what I read.

Speaking of ARCs, reviews, and 2023 reads... Have you checked out that fabulous blurb that Moriah Chavis has going on for Heart of The Sea. Certainly piped my interest.

Initial Thoughts

Honored. I was honored to be able to read it via ARC.

So what exactly piped my interest...

It's a pirate story set full of adventure in the high seas of a fictional world that was entirely created by the author. Two captains reluctantly having to work together with their own unique powers and one has been tasked with killing the other.

SOLD!

Not to mention my favorite genre is fantasy!

Favorite Scenes

Going to keep this as spoiler free as possible.

Trust me the urge is real.

There were tons of amazing scenes written in this book. Some of my personal favorites being the one step portrayed much action; there was a lot of action. All of the fight scenes were well constructed. Even the initial scene at the start of the book in which the two main characters meet was fueled with the adventurous feelings you'd expect.

World building is another factor that has been incredible, as it has kept the reader emerged throughout. Descriptive writing is clearly a strong suit of Moirah's. Each description of the kingdoms within, of the magic system, and of the locations brought life to the story.

Characters- What I Thought?

With Nerissa & Cyrus the dynamic was on point. The fierce determination within both of them to obtain their goals and the way they challenged one another. It let to a well built relationship.

As for the different dynamics within the crew thought that the relationship between Britta, Claudette, & Nerissa was shown in a way that added tension to the plot.

As was tension between Cyrus & the Queen.

End Swirling

Here I am with another great read of 2023 that I recommend.

This story was everything. It was adventurous, emotional, unique, and a surging wave of salted astonishment.

If you enjoy the following, it's definitely for you:

▪️Determined Characters

▪️Fantasy genre

▪️Pirates

▪️Sirens

▪️Unique Powers

▪️Characters Who Challenge One Another

▪️Reluctant Teamwork

▪️Family Tension

▪️Found Family

▪️Beautiful description writing
