What The Mountains Did To My Writing Career

Hello, Welcome back to Writing with Sprinkle!

You ever been on vacation?

I hadn't in quite a while until now.

It was a real one. One without access to WiFi. One without obligation. One without as much responsibility.

It's not something that many people get to do in this busy, fast-paced environment type of world we're living in.

Though it has been some time since it took place (July 2023), I decided I wanted to share with you what good it did for me.

Wherever I Ended Up Going

Trudging along through the states with my family was initially annoying, stressful, and painful (ehem those car rides aren't good for your behind ).

At certain moments, despite all of the stress of pulling dogs back every time somebody wanted to exit the vehicle, there was a level of peace. Piece where you just got to watch the mountains and land roll by. Once I saw those trees, streams, and mountains it was breathtaking.

Seriously, whoever lives out there is blessed.

We ended up at our destination in Colorado.

Yes,a land of endless stars at night. Animals around. As limited stress as possible. Okay, there was some occasionally because family but individually I would fair well.

Impact Of Getting Away

A trip free from distractions and stress can lead to glorious things. It can lead to inspiring poetry (it totally did). Can't lead to a sense of peace of mind, often hard to come by as well.

I felt closer to God out there too.

Sometimes getting away from some place that is not serving you in the way that it needs to or that is causing you to serve too much of yourself to others, brings so much forward. It's so good for you as this was for me.

Afterthought & Mindfulness In Right Now

Thinking over how it was and how it is again after return, I wish that I could return there and stay. Though that is not entirely possible.

Thank you for being majestically beautiful but horrifyingly expensive Colorado. Yikes.

Once I returned, the stress was thrown at me once more and it fell to difficult to breathe. Difficult to breathe emotionally.

Elevation is a killer but I could have gotten used to it.

It's just going to show you how connected we are to the world but also how that could be a detrimental thing. How being too connected to others leaves no time for us to spend the time that we need alone to recharge. It shows how far we have come to be slammed with endless non-stop work and household tasks rather than being connected to the world that God has built for us.

Even if you are not religious, You cannot deny that the many beauties of the world are worth more than what we do not see. And that we should see one another and do good by each other. We should be planting gardens and feeding our neighbors, We shouldn't be worried about a hustle and bustle. Nobody should be having to worry about where their next meal is coming from. There is so much greed going on. There is so much negativity spread. Getting along with other people should be a goal. Doing positive acts should be a goal. Fixing the brokenness of our world.

You feel this way?

Then do something small.

Something that will help someone.

Do something for you as well. Go outside.
